InfoLab and InfoNet

You only need one bit of code to really get stated. That is the code that links pages together. here is an example : <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/html/">W3Schools HTML</a></p>

An InfoLab is an exercise in harvesting information, it can be a diary or it simple can be your favourites. When I am doing WWW research I use a FREE online serviice called Protopage.

The primary site for this Generation Project will be a Protopage content management solution. You will see in Protopage that you can create your own web pages within the application - this makes it a great tool for learning.

An InfoNet is a way to deliver information, it is your own personal Intranet. Have you ever been faced with a large intranet and you can not remember to find stuff - then creating your own mini-sites with links is the answer.

InfoNet creation - you will need to use Notepad and be able to change the file extension from .txt to .htm or .html. To do this you will have to change your folder settings - again google has the answer.

I am not here to teach but to point you in the right direction.

Your first web page should be a Splash Page - traditionally called index.html as this is the default page that entry to a folder requires. Moving up and down the folder path is a skill which you will need to develop, I will be providing code samples soon.

The second page that you should do is your site map - this is today's code sample......

I am certain that for most of you, you are already ahead of the game. These are small steps for those who are new to this.

InfoLab and InfoNet are my terminologies - created long before the internet when we used VM/CMS.
